Privacy Policy
This policy explains, in practical terms, how justREC approaches recordings, transcripts, summaries, API keys, and purchase-related information.
1. Local-first approach
justREC is designed as a local-first macOS app. Recordings, transcripts, summaries, and exported files are intended to be stored locally on the user’s device or in storage chosen by the user on that device.
2. BYOK and provider connections
justREC supports BYOK (Bring Your Own Key). Users provide their own API keys for supported providers. Requests for transcription or summary generation are sent directly from the app to the provider selected by the user.
3. No AI proxy backend
The developer of justREC does not proxy user AI requests through a separate backend for processing. If a user chooses to process audio or text with a third-party provider, that processing happens under the provider relationship selected by the user.
4. Third-party provider terms
When a user sends data to a selected AI provider, that provider’s own privacy policy, security practices, and terms apply to the processing performed on its systems. Users should review the terms of any provider they choose to use.
5. API key storage
API keys should be stored securely on the device using standard secure storage mechanisms available on the platform, such as Keychain or equivalent protected system storage.
6. App Store purchases and restore
If justREC offers App Store purchases, purchase handling and restore flows are managed through Apple’s App Store systems. justREC may need to read purchase status or restore state required to unlock the purchased app functionality on the device.
